Cheese Tteokkochi Recipe, Korean Snack for the Whole Family!

Cooking Time : 20-30 minutes.

Ingredients:

  • 12 Tteok or rice cakes
  • 9 slices of Babybel cheese
  • 3 skewers
  • 1 tbsp margarine
  • 1 ½ tbsp tomato sauce
  • 1 tbsp gochujang
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • ½ tbsp soy sauce
  • ½ tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • ¼ tbsp fine garlic

Measurements:

  • 12 Tteok or rice cakes
  • 9 slices of Babybel cheese
  • 3 skewers
  • 1 tbsp margarine
  • 1 ½ tbsp tomato sauce
  • 1 tbsp gochujang
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • ½ tbsp soy sauce
  • ½ tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • ¼ tbsp fine garlic

Method:

  1. Boil the tteok or rice cake until soft then remove from heat
  2. Skewer the tteok or rice cake alternately with pieces of babybel cheese. On each skewer there are 4 rice cakes and 3 slices of babybel cheese.
  3. Mix the prepared gochujang, tomato sauce, honey, granulated sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil and fine garlic then stir until evenly mixed.
  4. Heat a non-stick frying pan then lower the temperature to medium low heat
  5. Put the margarine in the pan until it melts
  6. Insert 3 skewers of cheese tteokkochi before then spread the mixed seasoning on top of it
  7. Turn the tteokkochi using a spatula while spreading the remaining seasoning
  8. Transfer the tteokkochi to a plate when it turns light brown
