Bitterballen, a Tiny Snack Recipe for the Family!

Cooking Time : 105 minutes

Ingredients:

  • All purpose flour
  • Breadcrumbs
  • Butter
  • The Laughing Cow Plain Belcube Cheese
  • Beef broth
  • Ground beef
  • Egg
  • Onion
  • Nutmeg
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Parsley
  • Vegetable oil

Measurements:

  • 1½ cup of flour
  • 1 cup of breadcrumbs
  • 8 tablespoon of butter
  • 12 cube of The Laughing Cow Plain Belcube Cheese
  • 3 cup of beef broth
  • ½ kg of ground beef
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 minched small onion
  • ¼ teaspoon of nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of pepper
  • 2 tablespoon of chopped parsley
  • Vegetable oil

Method:

  1. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat, then gradually add 1 cup of flour. Stir the flour until it becomes a thick paste.
  2. Next, mix the paste with beef broth, stirring until well blended. Ensure the gravy is smooth but keep it thick.
  3. Let it simmer for a few minutes, then add parsley, onions, and ground meat. Stir evenly.
  4. Add salt, pepper, and nutmeg according to taste and preference.
  5. Transfer the meat mixture into a container, then refrigerate for several hours until the mixture becomes solid.
  6. Prepare containers for all-purpose flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs.
  7. Once the mixture is firm enough, shape it into balls and fill the inside with the Belcube Cheese. To ensure you have the same size, you can use a small ice cream scoop.
  8. Once all the balls are done, coat them with all-purpose flour, then in beaten eggs, and finally in breadcrumbs.
  9. Prepare a baking sheet, then place all the coated balls on it and refrigerate until ready to fry.
  10. Heat frying oil in a skillet. Once the oil is hot, fry the balls in batches according to the size of the skillet used. When they float to the surface and turn golden brown, it indicates that the Bitterballen is cooked.
  11. After frying, drain any remaining oil from the Bitterballen. Then, serve with your favorite sauce.
